ODSL Exec. Board Meeting Minutes


August 13, 2008




Present:  Randy Martin, Wayne Gardella, Paul O’Connell, Karen Klumpp, Dave Milne




Meeting called to order at 7:35 PM






Review of budget.  Will know by Monday if anything is missing.  Paul will follow-up if so.






Lisa not present, but stated that registration has been going well.




Boys Commissioner


Nothing new to report this month.




Girls Commissioner


The search for a new Girls Commissioner continues.




VYSA Representative


The VYSA Annual Workshop will be in January 2009.  This year, it will be held in Northern Virginia.




Vice President


Quick review of the new ODSL 6v6 rules of play.






The Randy Rawls Sportsmanship Awards are in process.   A sample was shown to the board.  Repeat winners will get trophies.  The DC United ODSL night will be in October, and all winners will get tickets if they are still active in the league.




The new game cards are in.  The teams (both home and away) will stick on game day rosters.  ODSL will provide labels to be used for this purpose.




Packets are together for the pre-season  meeting.  This meeting will be held at Battlefield High School in Haymarket at 7:00pm on 8/24/08.




Some discussion was done pertaining to the U16B, and ways of providing them with some variety in their schedule.  Paul came up with a possible solution.




Every referee assignor will need to ensure that all of his/her referees are entered into the new referee database used by ODSL.  All game results will be reported online.  If a referee does not have access to the internet, they may mail the card. 




There was some discussion of when a referee gets paid for rained out games.  If a referee closes a field during a game due to rain, and the fields remain closed, then they will not get paid for additional games to be played following that game.






We need to follow-up on the policies and procedures for holding hearings.  Need to make sure the information is available for all to know.




The fields for OSC need to be inspected to insure they are safe for use.




The next meeting will be held on 9/11/2008 at 7:30.
